conductivity in one particular direction

#1 Post by rgc » Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:28 am

we know that the absence of band gap means metallic-type conductivity.

Now, if we have an anisotropic solid wich is an insulator or semiconductor in one particular crystallographic direction, but has metallic conductivity in the perpendicular plane, what does the band structure of this solid look like?
