tuning network for fast VASP calculations

#1 Post by rpnabar » Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:02 am

Are there any specifics that one should be looking for when one wants to build a cluster tuned for optimal VASP performance?

Questions of the sort:

1. Is low latency super important or high bandwidth?
2. Would Jubmo Frames be helpful? How large of a packet size

etc.

Any comments are very appreciated. I am trying to build a new cluster and anticipate a heavy VASP usage.
